boost my f22 or wait?
should i just go straight to boosting my f22b or should i go for an h22 swap 1st and then boost that? also, my accord is an AT, should i look for a manny tranny for it 1st?i could always just swap the head for an h22 head. so far what i want to do is just swap out the head for a h22 and drop in a OEM manny tranny. then go for boost. what do you guys think...peace

I would look into a tranny swap first. If you can't do it yourself, you may have a hard time finding a shop that can do it for a good price. I have read that the F22 is a good engine for boosting so I would probably just boost it. Many prefer the F22 over the H22 when it comes to boost. How many miles are on it?

RE: boost my f22 or wait?
it may be cheaper to get a beefed up auto tranny to take the abuse. Like Level 10 tranny's. Some say bad things about them from the past, but i've heard no bad reviews from anyone who bought one off the market today. Just a suggestion. To have a shop install manual tranny, probably lookin at about $5000-$6000. Thats from AAMCO. The beefed up auto cost about 3G, and probably $500 install since it's just a swap. Do what you like best. The only thing about the beefed up auto's is that people say you lose the D4 auto shifting, meaning you have to shift through each gear like a manual. Good luck and post your ending result. Hope this helps.
PS: If you don't like level ten, AAMCO said they could put better than stock clutch packs and do a rebuild for like $1000-$1500. Can't remember the exact price.

dude.. you got 23 posts.. haha.. pro? the f22 will take WWAAAYYY more power than an h will for the simple fact that the f22 has iron sleeves and the prelude has some really weak, thin material.. people who dont know anything about their motors turbo the **** out of their h22's and crack the block.. if you want the DOHC VTEC, then just swap the head from the h22 on the f22.. its been don by a guy named Tom on honda-tech.com... its very impressive..
but you can easily make a hell of a lot of power with a SOHC VTEC motor.. everyone is stuck on doing a prelude swap and B-series swap, just because they come stock with more HP..
you could turbo a sohc vtec d16z6, at 8 psi, simple exhaust and smoke the **** out of a b16a or maybe even b18c swap with an intake and exhaust.. it all depends on how you build the motor and/or what you put on to it...

DJ, please explain in detail exactly how it is possible to crack the block of an open head engine.
Also, the "really weak, thin material" that you refer to is a fiber reinforced metal sleeve. True that cast iron is stronger, but the FRM is also a good sleeve. BTW, the K20 motor also has cast sleeves and can handle 18 psi with a stock lower end.
