Default max boost on i4 auto

i have an 03 coupe auto and plan on going with the gt30R turbo set up from racing technology within the next couple of months. i have searched the forums and found nothing discussing the auto tranny and boost. from what i have gathered the KA24 is a strong block and can be made into a monster but my worry iswith the tranny holding up. i want to get between 325 to 350 to the wheels. but im not sure if the tranny is going to take the abuse ( even with mods). the test car was a manual and im not sure if the auto can take 300whp much less the 350 im shooting for.

Make sure you have a tranny cooler and that will help immensly... As for it withstanding the abuse I'm not 100% certain if it would reliably hold 350.... 300 with a cooler possibly but 350 is pushing it from what I know. Basically if it's over 6-8 psi it's going to give you issues

^ x2. I did not want to be the first responder because I admit I don't know crap about turbos. My knowlege is strictly limited to what I have read on this forum and one other site. Based on my research, I do not think the auto tranny can handle that kind of power. Hopefully one of our turbo guys will get on here and give some expert advice.

I agree with sir_nasty, as long as you're not pushing apst 6-8 psi you should be fine. That's why I'm not turboing my auto because it limits the potential of your car. You should be in control of the geras of your car, not a stupid computer.

Invest in a 6 speed, either TSX or RSX Type-S tranny swap. Then go for the turbo.

It's a b***h....but that's the only way to push 350+ without blowing up your engine internals.

Yup, 6-8. If it were me I would only run 5...maybe 6.

But as they say a trany cooler is a MUST. Dont get the $30 ones..for for the biggest one you can find. They do make them for performance cars which are largers and built better. Just remember with the cooler you will need more tranny fluid.

Lol trany swaps are so much money especially auto to manual. That's why cars are a pain. Can't wait for a stickshift.

the tranny should do fine w/ 6-8psi... but ull need a big tranny cooler and also bigger injectors and a fuel pump... if ur a daily driver gofor 5,6psi... just to make sure, then push it to 8 and see what happens...anything starting to feel weird, bring it back to 6psi... well good luck

yea i was thinking the same 300whp is too much for the tranny even with a tranny cooler. i was thinking of getting a valve body upgrade ( prolly custom) and a shift kit. i re-did the math and with 6-8 pounds i will still get over 250whp. ill keep u posted on how the car holds up. if it holds strong at 8 ill push it past to see what the auto tranny can take.

what if you just reinforced your current tranny? Like http://www.levelten.com.
They have tranny upgrades for our cars and many others. I'm thinking about buying from them. They also build and sell bulletproof trannys, capable of handling 500+ HP. They are just beefed up auto's. The bulletproof for me is like 2400$ I think. maybe more for the refundable core charge. Check em out.
