Turbocharger FX Kit
Yeah, $10 bucks then $20 for shipping so I'm sure the guy got his cut but still can't beat the price and the new throttle response. I would doubt if I got another 7-12 hp, really doubt. I don't know about the 5 hp, MAYBE at the crank but doubt at the wheel. Anyhow, get that new intake and enjoy.
Does anyone recommend the heat shield...the one cover that covers the top portion of the filter? Link is on previous post. Also, someone mentioned heat wrap around the piping...will that make the piping weird looking or what can I do to keep heat out of the engine w/o messing up the cool looks of the piping and etc.? Maybe a few small fans under the hood near the filter? Haha
Thanks
Thanks
I don't really think that the heat sheild is going to do too much heat blocking. When you are sitting in traffic the air that is drawn through the filter is the air under the hood not fresh air. When you're moving it is different. Header wrap around your tube won't look pretty and you will have to change it every so often but it would keep some heat from being transferred to it. I think that if you are really considering the heat sheild for the filter, spend a few extra bucks and get a CAI, fresh air all the time.
how is a heat shield for the air filter going to work? you draw air from inside the engine compartment which is warm, so the head sheild is just going to restrict the airflow, it won't change what air is going in, it's still going to be the air that's inside the engine bay, that's like saying breathing through your mouth vs. breathing through your nose from an oxygen bottle makes a difference in the oxygen you get, it's all coming from the same place so it's all going to be the same air/temp, the only difference will be if you heat sheild your SRI piping, then the pipe doesn't get warm and heat the air even more as it flows by.
In earlier posts...somewhere...its says that CAI or SRIs are all the same when they are in drive. However, each has their advantage and disadvantages. The CAIs are coolder air but when its in drive, its just the same as SRIs. However, the SRIs would sound better...SOME of them. I don't even know if its possible to hook up SRIs on a 98 V6 Coupe because the piping is too short and all that stuff people talkin about. What im thinkin to improve is by adding a fan or two near the filter, did any try that and did it work? Thanks
I don't think that I would bother with fans around the filter, I've never done it nor heard of anyone else do it. Just do the CAI, less work, fresh air, no extra electrical drain, and more of a ram air effect. If they don't make a CAI for your car, make one yourself, shouldn't be too hard and I'm sure someone around here has made their own.
Check this out!!!...REAL turbo...sounds awsome!!! http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...ee6a72e23f.htm
Thats the turbo i WANT...however, some vids I see have turbo on their car but I don't hear that spool up/air suction sound but this one does...anyone knows why? Thanks

dependeds on the side of the turbo, the guy as a reeeeally loud blow off valve, but he probably as the air filter right on the turbo vs having a pipe redirecting it somewhere
as a side note..... this guy shouldnt be driving a car if he cant tell where the lines on the road are

Yeah...that guy doesn't drive in his lane...just noticed that. But hey...how can I get that blow off...swoosh/spool sound without having to get turbo? I mean...if it requires just a FEW parts in the turbo to get that sound...its all good. lol. Any ideas? Thanks
