Default Turbonator...real or fake?

Yeah...is the Turbonator on http://www.turbonator.com real or fake? Anyone tried it? It sounds believable but if anyone tried it...its best. Please let me know. Thanks

search the forum for tubonator, there was a link posted a while back where a company (one of the big magazine companies) did tests on all of that crap, turbonators, plug wire enhancers etc and the turbonator did nothing at all, in fact if memory serves it dropped the fuel mileage a tiny bit.... it's worthless, some people here have tried them and said the same thing don't waste your money... go to ebay and buy a bomz short ram intake for about $40.00 it will help a LOT more

If thats the case...are ALL short ram intakes better then that turbonator thing? I was thinkin about the intake with a heat shield...know anything about that? Will this help? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...QQcmdZViewItem ?

If anyone knows about this, please help me. Also, will this or ANY short ram intake make the sound of my engine louder or any of that?
Thanks

I've had personal experience with the AEM V2 Cold Air intake (sounds great, works great but to much risk so I wouldn't suggest it) Short Ram intakes should ALWAYS add more than a turbonator will... Lightshow is a person on here who uses the Bomz one and said it's nice and quiet until you get on the throttle then it comes alive. Get one that has an inverted cone on the end of the filter and it should be good. As far as heat shielding goes that will help since it keeps the air/tubing from heating up and expanding the air, no matter what cold air intake you get or short ram intake adding heat shielding to it will help.

Long story short, the turbonator is actually a tad worse than your stock intake so any decent Short Ram intake should be a MUCH better buy. However, from the experience that others have mentioned the Bomz ones are actually pretty nice.

Oh...ok. So I am planning to get this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...QQcmdZViewItem but I hope it doesn't create much sound. It has the heat shield so im assuming its a good buy. What do you think? Also...since the pipe is aluminum...will this make the air flow faster since the air doesn't bouch around much? Thanks

Please give me recommendations of SHORT RAM intakes that won't make much sound...looks good...and works well. Thanks

I don't like the way that one is set up, it's encasing the filter in a holder of some sort to "block heat" which I think it a bunch of crap.... when I said insulate or heat wrap I was saying more like heat wrap the tubing not around the filter... Try the link I included it's for one that I think will be much better, you won't even really know it's there until you step on the throttle all the way down otherwise it's pretty quiet... The one you posted looks nice but it looks VERY ineffecient... So anyway here's my suggestion

turbonator is awesome. I bought 3 and put them right before the throttle body and then sold my turbo. Can't even tell the difference!

They're a rip off, dude, save your cash. You're on the right track though looking at intakes. Those will make some differences.

I'll be the first to admit that I put one on one of my previous vehicles. The thing was a gift and the vehicle a chevy tahoe 4X4 5.7 V8 throttle body injection. The thing did help a tiny bit on this gas guzzler becuase the throttle body sat in the same place as a carb would. The way our cars are set up, I wouldn't even dare to put one on, doesn't make sense.
