Default Looking for a shop in southern NH

Hi guys.

I'm looking for a reputable garage, somewhere in the area of Hooksett NH.
A good friend of mine, a middle-aged widow lady, has a 2004 Accord with the auto tranny gone out.
It's been professionally checked out, and it is indeed bad.

Anyway, I live in Illinois, but I want to help get her some prices on a used tranny installed, then she wants to sell the car.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Doug

I've recently used Extra Care Auto Repair at 2266 Candia Road, Manchester and have been very pleased with their service. From Hooksett your friend would travel south a couple of miles on 28-Bypass to the traffic circle by Massabesic Lake; Extra Care would be immediately to her right as she reaches the traffic circle.

My pleasure. Where in Illinois are you located? I lived in the Chicago area for thirteen years in the 1980s and 1990s.

I'm in Freeport; about 40 miles west of Rockford, 90 miles or so west of Chicago.

I have to say, this seems to be one of the friendliest car forums I've ever joined, and I've been a member of many forums for the past 14 years.
I'm a self-employed toolmaker; but as a side business, I make custom stainless steel shift ***** and other goodies for MINIs, BMWs, and a few Japanese cars.
So I'm used to hanging with "car people".

You folks are very welcoming and helpful!

Cheers,

Doug

Thats a little far from any shop I know in NH or I'd throw some into the mix. I know of a great Volvo specialty shop in Hooksett though if she ever decides to switch to the Swede side.

Well, she dropped the car off at Extra Care last night, but at the Hooksett shop.
Closer to her, and they don't do that extensive a job at the Manchester shop anyway, because they only have two lifts there and can't tie one up for that long.
The Hooksett shop has three lifts.

I have say that I'm sitting here scratching my head, though.
I've had five auto trannies go out during my lifetime, and never did I have any forward motion at all.

She was able to drive it to the shop last night, and she tells me that it drove fine!
I can't help but wonder whether that thing just needs a valve body or something..
