Ok would like you help...looking for second opinions. Sorry for the long story.

Ok, dusting off the 88 LXi Auto. Long story..short version. Car has been sitting for about 4~5 years, was a daily driver till the day I parked it and started driving one of the others. In spring of 09 started getting it ready for the youngest. Had to replace fuel pump (gummed up?, had volts going to it, no output) and fuel filter. Replaced exhaust, OE cat back. Changed oil, tune up, pcv. Drove it around for a little, no tags so just close to the house. Then the wife got the 07 Pilot, so the rest of us upgraded. Sat again for 1 ½ years. What would you look for:
My thoughts:
Check breaks, replace fluid-Wife has to have home IV infusions so I’ve got a ton of empty injection tubes to suck out the old fluid from the reservoir, then Newton and I will have fun.
Lub cyl’s to be sure nothing is sticking-best advice on how you would do this (Seafoam, Trans fluid, PB Blaster, ect) or leave it alone. This is another place where the injection tubes and IV tubing come in handy, can measure that stuff down to the milliliters….and the tubing can get it into places you would not believe.
New bat-tried to charge to old one…dead. But I could take the one from the 87 that got totaled.
Tires-dry rotted, knew that last year. 87 is LX so they are 13’s and don’t fit over the larger front calipers on the LXi.
T-Belt somewhere in the near future. Can’t find my notes on the last replacement and time has piled up…yes seals, wp, idler, ect….this will have to wait as the 95 is due NOW, suppose to rain this weekend so I’m planning the 95 the following weekend.
Anything else let me know, either PM me or post. Yes I could put this in the other sections but I’d get everything from “don’t bother” to “put a turbo or a NO shot to it”. This is a stock, get to school and back ride. Only has to last about a year before he graduates (mechanical engineering nc sate) then joins the USMC, going to be a helicopter pilot…or at least that is what they have told him they want him for.

Has it sat without cranking the engine at all for a long time? Pull out the sparkplugs, squirt oil in there, let it sit for a day or so.

Disable fuel & spark, crank the starter to circulate the oil before trying to start it.

Maybe drain the fuel tank & put fresh in there?? Unless you used some StaBil or similar stuff.

Anything you want to take apart.... soak it overnight in penetrating oil.

Thanks Jim. It has been about six months since the battery gave up so it has not been spun over since. I'm thinking about soaking it since it really hasn't been "driven daily" now for about 7 years....and it is about about to go from "sleeping" to full time service...regular motor oil is you suggestion? Yes, I'll be sure to have the fuel/spark cut off before doing anything, last time I did the same and actually did the first turns of the motor by using a socket on the crank bolt. The gas was treated with Seafoam, after the fuel pump situation I treated it and after burning that old gas out as much as I could was still "over doing" the treatments so I should be good there.
The boy is ok on cars, made him fix/help/repair many things since he was about 15.-I've "supervised" all work on his '87 for the last 3~4 years..but he's 21 now and I know what I did then, but I was driving the Chevelle daily then, so that is why I want to give her every chance to make it the next 15~16 months.
I've got a week or two until we settle the insurance stuff. For now we are trying to keep the "crabbing" 87 going until we get the 88 ready for full time service...again, thanks to everyone for your help.

Anyway, enough about this stuff.....what are the predictions about the games this weekend??????

Passed the hunter safety(anyone with half a brain could). Now just have to pay the $140 non resident fee to get my tags.

And target shooting is my main thing, but decided to finally try hunting.

Nah they don't. I will get my buck tag with my license, and then they get 20 or more doe tags for anyone that hunts on their land. so at least I can make the $140 worth it.
