Default 1st oil change on the 2009 Ford Edge

Today I decided to go ahead and change the oil on the 2009 Ford Edge my wife and I bought for her (new) on 5/21/2009. Ford recommends Motorcraft 5w20 every 7500 miles. I decided to change it at 5653.1 miles. Motorcraft 5w20 Synthetic blend is surprisingly cheaper than the valvoline Maxlife syn blend I use for the Accord. it was only $11.50 for 5 quarts. i had to buy another quart because the Edge uses 5.5 qt. The motorcraft filter was cheap too. Only $3 and some change. I was able to buy the oil and filter at WalMart. So the oil change cost me under $20 whereas the dealer wanted $40 something for the "discounted" first oil change. After that, the dealer probably charges $60....I don't think so...
Now I had already read on the Ford Edge forum that Ford puts the factory oil filter on really tight. Of course I just figured they were a bunch of wimps....boy was I wrong.
I put my "wrap around type" filter wrench on it and it wouldn't budge so I cranked on it hard. After thinking I was going to break the wrench I took it off and noticed I had partially crushed the filter! I then got a bit nervous wondering what the heck I was going to do if I couldn't get it off. I just kept working and working it with the wrench and finally it came loose. Talk about turning a 10 minute job into a 30 minute one. Holy crap! Here's a pic of the old filter after I got it off:

I've started using that oil in the Civics & I probably would have done that on the Accord if I hadn't sold it. Someday I'll get another oil analysis done to see how it does.
