Default Best Tip in the forum

Hey Guys I am new to this forum but I must say all you guys Rock, simply rock.

Well I bought this used car and first one for me a few months ago and started running into problems one after another(currently into a CEL stage :P) but the forum has helped me a lot mainly as a passive reader.

I would like to highlight the best suggestion I thought was from Jim Blake,
in the context of Brake lamp:
"That warning lamp is triggered by the wrong wattage in the brake lamps. Sometimes when a bulb is getting ready to burn out, it still lights up but at the wrong wattage, setting off that warning. Occasionally, you have to replace all the bulbs, just so they match each other. "

Frankly I did not initially believe in this.
1) Initially I got the Brake lamp ON and saw all my lamps were working fine. Had been to a local mechanic for some other work and just told him about the issue and he told me that my alternator coud be bad?!!
Then in a couple of days time one Lamp died: Here busted my one myth.
2) I just replaced one blub, but the lamp still on: Holy ****, who on earth will replace all bulbs for one, I thot! and rechecked my fuse and with a faint heart brought one more and replaced the complementing one.
3) What on earth is going on, lamp Still ON? waited a couple of days and was so bothered by the lamp that I decided to replace the remaining 4 this time.
Woah! Lamps gone and Gone for good for about 2 months now!!

So I feel that post should be made a sticky for the what its worth!

Hey, I appreciate that you think I'm some kinda hero.

But really, there's too many people here with lots of good tips for repairing things. Trying to put it all together in one thread is just going to be a mess. That's the reason to split things up into topic areas.

I've known some dealer people that are quite nice & helpful. Maybe in the minority, but they're not ALL stealerships.
