Whatever you want to tell people???

I'm old and slow, most of the time when people (that I know) talk about "stage" it is from a specific mfg in reference to cams.

It's sorta customary for certain carmakers. Saab & Subaru are a couple that have more well-defined "stages". Sometimes it even gets specific to the aftermarket company who is selling stuff.

For example stage-1 for a certain car (in certain range of model-years) might be intake header & exhaust. Then stage 2 might be camshaft in addition to stage-1. Or maybe stage 3 might be a bigger turbo along with a specific downpipe.

It usually goes along with an aftermarket ECU that's programmed for a specific collection of stuff. Get a stage-2 ECU and you better have installed the specific stuff that it was programmed for.

For Honda it seems common to talk in terms of getting it "tuned". Which refers to someone programming your ECU on an individual basis. Then doing it again when you buy your next batch of goodies.
