Default Great fuel economy for a car of this size

This is my 4th Accord, my first since 1997. After months of shopping the higher end brands, I stumbled upon a 2013 Accord Coupe EXL w/nav at a reasonable price. I was surprised to see how much the Accord had grown and added features over the years. The car is very comfortable and nimble. The turning radius is much smaller than on the 2007 Eclipse I traded. Not only does this sporty coupe beat the Eclipse in ride comfort, power & ammenties, it kills in the mpg department. $40 fill ups, 25mpg in the city and a documented 33.6 hwy(all with the eco button on).

At 50, I'm no longer the speed racer type, but I'm no slouch either. This morning I made a 300 mile one way trip; burned about 3/4 tank and the computer marked my mpg at 33.6. My speed from Dublin, VA to Washington, DC ranged between 60-80mph.

The 4 cylinder performs very well and to honest, I have never driven the car with the eco button off. I hear more power becomes available and the mpg drops some. As a rather portly guy, I was very comfortable and enjoyed the ease of operating the climate controls and stereo. I must admit, the sunroof is very noisy in either open position. I will try one of those deflectors to see if it reduces the noise.
The stereo is another major plus. I encourage everyone to listen to some Rufus w/Chaka Khan, Earth Wind & Fire or Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. You will hear every cowbell, whistle, washboard, etc. Imagine Chaka doing her thing at 80+mph.

I think the "ECO" button changes the auto-trans shifting strategy. So it's not REALLY extra power. Still, you can go ahead & try it to see what you think.
