How do you make the inside of your car smell good?
As stated above, cleaning the interior thoroughly could rid the problem, you may have mildew lodged somewhere the eye cant see.
You can also spray disinfectant spray through the outer vents(right below wipers) to freshen the air vents.
Good luck

- Before installing new cabin filters, I'd spray Lysol or some other disinfecting spray through the outer vents with the fan and heat on high. Then with the air off, spray it in the interior vents and let it dry.
- Replace the cabin air filter.
- Vacuum everything, including the fabric on the headliner.
- I smoke and my car usually doesnt smell all that great... I vacuum absolutely everything and it smells like its never been smoked in after that.

If you smoke, anything. Ozium, Ozium Ozium! Nothing gets rid of smells like ozium. It's a commercial air sanitizer used in hospitals, by janitors, and by stoners. I even spray it on my filter from time to time, but I would also spray it on a new filter as well.
EDIT: When I was a kid I use to smoke inside and spray ozium while smoking and my mom never knew, until she caught me. Now I'm allowed to smoke inside because of ozium and incense.

Without knowing WHAT YEAR, I can't honestly suggest changing cabin air filters.
It might be a good idea if you have them?
Also, running the air on 'Recirc' all the time can lead to musty smells, try shifting to the 'Fresh' setting for the last few minutes ofeach drive cycle.
You might want to get a flat deep pan and pour in 1/2 bottle of white vinegar, put it on the front passenger floor, let the car sit in the sun closed up.
The vinegar fumes kill bacteria, and make you want an italian salad. LOL

How about scrubbing it out..use carpet and interior cleaners for a starter...
