Looking to buy a used '98 Accord EX 4 Dr Sedan 108.000 miles. Fully loaded.. power everything, moon roof, remote starter lock/unlock function and trunk unlock function.. I talked the dealer down to 8.4k, but he won't budge from that price. I've been reading around a bit, and I've come to understand the wealth of information demonstrated in these forums on this particular make and model of cars.. and I'd like to ask you guys now for your opinion(s) on my situation. Guess the point is, do you think I should go for it? The car is in excellent condition as far as I can tell (intermediate knowledge of vehicle functionability)
i'll sell you my 98 Coupe, with h22a swap, custum ram air intake, 2.5" test pipe, motor has unknown amount of miles, but doesnt consume much oil, doesnt burn any at all (no smoke whatsoever) all options besides navigation, has leather, power seats, power moonroof... EX trim...
here's a pic... i'd let it go with the stereo for 4000, without the stereo for 3500
stereo consists of:
Pioneer MP3/WMA head unit (dont know the model number off hand) it delivers 25wrms x4
Boston accoustics components up front 6" mid bass 1" tweeter mounted in stock mounting spots (car came with factory components)
2 x 12" Kicker Comp CVR12 12" subwoofers in a 4ft slot ported enclosure tuned to 32hz (should be good for around 146-147db
subs are powered by an Alpine MRD1005 1000wrms x 1, it runs the subs absolutely perfectly, they ask for 400wrms but they handle the 500wrms a piece no prob, sub box and amplifer are both properly mounted in trunk, power wire 0/1 gauge is correctly ran, under the carpet as it should be, no ghetto rigging whatsoever.

I bought my 2000 LX with 104k on it for $5500. It was also in excellent condition and two years newer than that one. I bought it from a used car dealer too.
I know you can find something at a better price than that.
Is it an automatic? If so, you might want to research the transmission issues with the 98-02 Accords. If it's auto, you have a 50% chance the transmission will go out anytime.
That car is also overdue for a timing belt change. If that has not been done yet, expect to pay anywhere from $400 - $800 (maybe evenmore)for the timing belt service.
I agree that price is a little too much. I bought my 99 4 cyl ex for 7800 out the door 2 years ago with just under 90,000. If you are planning to get an auto, as stated above it's really a coin toss of whether or not your transmission will fail. Might want to spend a little extra and get a 7th gen accord just to be safe.
