Default Is lowering a daily driver car a bad idea??

I know some of you guys are proponents of lowering a car for looks.. I gotta get new struts, shocks, basically everything.. 220k miles on originals apparently don't go too well.. i was suggested just get loaded struts to stay cheap..

I know I can get full out KYB or Tein kits with everything for like 450 to 500 off of ebay and those will allow lowering as well.. But the real question is, is it a bad idea??

I drive everyday about 120 miles, I think.. it varies some days more, some less but around that number.. but the best part is, I drive on the FDR drive mostly and manhattan and brooklyn, and some peaceful thank god it's not bumpy as crap roads.. for all of you that don't know the FDR drive it's the dumpiest of highways, its like rally racing, off roading at a rather fast pace (45 to 55 mph)..

I don't want a bumpy ride, I just want the car to look cool and a little lower.. So what do you guys think?? The way it is, it feels buick(ish) and noises all over..

If I lived in NYC I probably wouldnt lower it, the roads are just way too rough.

Oh yeah, those lowered cars are just flippin skippy !!
They come in for a service, and you have to get a trolley jack to raise them up enough to get the lift arms under them. Talk about losing flat rate pay !!!
Then they always want an alignment......but the front of the car hits the ramps going up the drive on rack......Then you get to lose more flat rate time finding boards to try getting the car up the ramps onto the rack.
I told my boss that any lowered car should have an automatic $100 extra labor charge put against it, before it ever rolls into the shop

well in that case, i guess i won't be lowering my car any time soon. not so much to save the service effort for the guys at honda, who seem very happy about charging ridiculous prices.. but more so to save some effort for myself..

truth be told, i've bottomed out on potholes with the OEM ride height.. not very often but it's happened a few times.. what can i say, new york's excessive taxes are used mostly for politician pockets.. escort services and such, i'm sure they've their expenses..

HondaDude has a good point there ..but the look is what most of the car guys are going for, so they don't worry about those EXTRA charges..
