Eddie Andrinni's Yakovlev Yak 9 at Travis AFB for the public air show in 2008. Sadly, Eddie passed away at the 2014 version of the event when his Stearman crashed upside down during a stunt due to a shift in the wind at low altitude. That's Eddie there in the red flight suit to the right of the picture.....sean

Above, flying with some F-18s over the desert....delivering them to their FOB somewhere in the AOR.
Below, an F-16 on our wing as we moved a squadron out of the AOR going state side. Something any veteran can relate to as being a relief, and a great excitement to be headed home. It felt like that even to those of us just enabling the move.

The back story for this image is that I, along with one of my young airman were tasked with an air refueling mission on a Sunday. Now, Sunday missions aren't completely out of the ordinary or anything but they are fairly rare at home station. It is more normal to not fly on Sundays as it is a weekend and being the good neighbor, the Air Force typically doesn't schedule training flights over the weekends. The AFRES? That's another story all together. Now my airman and I took off knowing the mission and what we were going to do....in relation to our business. We knew we would be flying to the Southern part of the state and we'd be in an A/R track and we would off-load some specified amount of fuel to a receiver aircraft. So, when we got to our rendezvous point and got set up for the refueling we opened the sighting door to see the image above. Turned out, we were doing this air refueling for the B-2 pilot training....and they were going to do a flyover of the Rose Bowl after. I had to stop and think for a moment.....that the flight of the Question Mark had conducted aerial refueling over the Rose Bowl 75 years before. A pioneering event for both the Air Force and the aerial refueling community. Kind of cool.....sean
