One obstacle to buying another Accord
I am now a Pilot owner looking to also becoming an Accord owner, again. Had one years ago and it was great.
Saw one at a dealer this morning I really liked: 2013 EXL with less than 20,000 miles, and everything I wanted on it. However... and this is a deal-breaker "however".... I can't stand the head restraint. I can't drive with my head looking down. I tried a 2012 Accord and found the same problem. My 2008 Pilot does not have the problem, as a matter of fact, I tried a new Pilot and it was comfortable. Clearly, it meets safety standards without compromising driver comfort.
I really would like to buy this car so I searched the internet for possible solutions. What I found was HUNDREDS of complaints about the same issue dating back to 2009. There were no useful suggestions. Here's one of those web sites: 16 Complaints: 2013 Honda Accord Uncomfortable Seats
I called Honda customer service and they were no help at all. Three times the lady I spoke with repeated the litany of "since 2009 all Honda cars....etc" referring to new federal safety guidelines. Never mind that the Pilot does not sacrifice comfort for safety.
How can Honda ignore such a problem that must be turning away Accord buyers?
How can Honda ignore it when they have the solution in another one of its models (the Pilot)?
Maybe someone has a suggestion for me.

I had a brainstorm this morning but it didn't work. I tried switching the rear seat head restraint to the front. Different rods spacing.
As a owner of a 2013 Accord Sport the cloth seats suck looking for aftermarket seats has any one gone this route ? My car is on a lease so have another 1.5 years on contract the stock sport suspension is really to stiff unless your on a smooth road surface. Needs adjustable setting have been on other forums and this is a known Honda issue no problem with the head rest's for me but I can see it could be for other drivers.
have you considered another brand of car? Personally I would take a Subaru Legacy over the current Accord.... Accord seats used to be some of the best out there but the new ones are not good at all....
YeuEmMaiMai; I have to say, you've become quite the Honda basher and quite the Subaru advocate. After having driven both, I have to say, in spite of the fact I find the new Accord a competent but soft ride, the new Legacy is not at all comfortable to me.
For my tastes at least, if I was buying a new 2014 family sedan, it would be either a new Accord or Mazda6 over the Legacy.

This style will actually protect your neck and spine in a rear end collision. All newer cars will be similar. Hope you can find a sweet spot in the adjustments of the seat back.
I'm surprised the Honda person was so knowledgeable about the head restraint.

lets talk about accord history, shall we?
4at from 98 and up crap
5at from 05 and up more crap
lets drop the superb double whish bone suspension for mc person struts
lets take some of the best seats on the planet and replace then ones that are horridly uncomfortable but hey Honda loyalty to the end, right?
I would rather drive a Ford Fusion than the current Accord and as for the legacy it is rated 36mpg same as the Accord and yet it is AWD... and starts out cheaper and has more comfortable seats....
I have owned several accords and they have steadily lost what makes them fun to drive....
I own a CLS and a Subaru and the Subaru can corner just as well as the Acura can.... imagine that.....
I would love to see Honda get back to their roots but in today's world, they are never going to do that... Same for Acura... and I have had mine for nearly 10 years now... The last remotely fun car Acura had to drive was the third gen TL... and by the time the TL-S came out... it was too little too late as it was heavier and only offered a few more ponies..
I like the RDX and it is very nice to drive for what it is, but it isn't going to win any handling contests and neither is the newer softer accord..
