Default Opinion on 2004 Accord---Frame Damage?

I was rear ended on the freeway last week and I've never been in an accident before so I don't know how bad this really is. The other guy's insurance adjuster hasn't been out to look at it but I want to know what I should expect. Does anyone think this has frame damage or is fixable? I don't want to have any problems with it should they decide to repair it. Thanks!

I would want to get a look at it with the rest of the car in view. Your pics are a bit too close to judge the damage in relation to the whole vehicle, though I am not an expert.

my guess some interior body metal will need to be replaced, a good guess of how much it should cost is what the parts cost is 1/3 of the repair cost, if framework is not need, the car is a unibody type so there is a initial cost to hook car to frame machine and then its just time. I would guess you will be over 3000 dollars, but it will also depend on the hidden damage. Make sure all parts are original honda, and do not let them use a reconditioned bumper it has trouble written all over it

How many miles are on you Accord? Is it an EX orLX? 4cyl or 6cyl?
They will take that into consideration when the decision is made to decide of the car is a "total loss" or not. Do not be surprised if they tell you it is a "total."
From looking at the pictures, I would say there is an 80% chance they are going to say it's a "total."
If they "total" it, they will offer you "Actual Cash Value" for the car. Which normally is defined as the reasonable value for whichyou could buy an identical car in a cash sale. This is normally based on the NADA book with values added or reduced for equipment/mileage. When I value cars I also consider Kelley Blue Book values. If you feel they are low-balling you, go to www.kbb.com and look up the "private party" value for your vehicle. Normally you are not looking at the"excellent condition" value either. If you read KBB's definition of "excellent condition" it means show-room quality. It says less than 5% of all used cars fall into the "excellent condition" category. I just ran a quickvalue for a 2004 Accord EX coupe with 49k miles (average for this year model)and got$14,830.
I also get on Autotrader.com and see what comparable vehicles with the same mileage are selling for.
I am just trying to give you some ammo for negotiations if they tell you it's a total.
Also...do they have you in a rental car right now?

Oh yeah...I'm an insurance adjuster. That's why I know this stuff

Pleasedon't get me wrong, the car definitely could be fixable.Just looking at the rear end,my educated guesswould be that you could probably fix it for around $6k(based on whatI can see.) However, I would probably bet money on it that the other guy's insurance company is going to say it's a "total." That way they don't have to wonder if the shop is going to find more damage after the repairs begin. Insurance companies hate supplements.

It has about 47,000 miles on it. 4cyl EX. I have already gotten some advice so as not to get taken advantage of and I really appreciate your input. The guy at the body shop (I know him pretty well, he'sdone some minor work on it before and also repaired my mom'scar after a similar accident) was kind ofon the fence about it but said he was sure they wouldfind more damage once they broke it down.

I would prefer that they total it because I don't want to have any problems with it after being repaired. They do have me in a rental but nothing compares to driving a Honda

And just so you know (if you don't already) since it is someone elses insurance company paying you don't be afraid to ask for more money for the car, they will lowball you, they have to. Make certain that if it is "totalled" that you get enough money to buy an exact replacement of the car in your local area.

Well, I'm glad at least it won't be a shock to you if they total it. If the body shop guy said he is on the fence about it, the chances of the insurance companytotaling it are more like 95%. If I were you, I would probably report it to my own insurance company just as a "heads up" in case you don't like the way the other company is handling it after a few days. But since they already have you in a rental, it sounds like they are doing right. Keep us updated. Let me know if I can help you in any way!

Looks like it may be a total to me by the pictures, and unless your really in Love with your car, I would push the insurance agents towards a total of the car...Looks Nasty_ right Sir_Nasty?
