raced a passat 1.8t
ok so heres the scoop i raced a friend of mines 1999 1.8t passat, and i smoked him i have a 1999 accord v6 vtech with air intake and custom exhaust. the next day i was telling some friends about it(who happened to be volkswagon lovers) that i smoked a passat even when he was using his tiptronic. they found this unbelieveable that my accord even kept up with the passat. it made me so mad because i wasted that passat. arrgh haha someone back me up.
The Passat is an excellent car, I have a 2003 2.0, I could probably take your V6 in reverse
Seriously what does it matter, I guess you are young. You know you beat the Passat and your mate does. So who gives a **** what anyone else thinks. You said they were VW fans, so you are talking to the wrong people.
Personally if you pitch a V6 against the 1.8T 4 cylinder Turbo? I would expect the V6 to win hands down, even if it is auto, the Passat's Tiptronic may have been good on a Porsche but am not so sure the Passat is any good with it, it is no more than a ponced up auto, which probably makes no use of the peak power from the turbo.
Mine is a 5 speed manual (stick shift), performance is adequate, personally think paper facts are a load of bollox once you own/drive the car, it does not matter what the data says as it is only as fast as it goes/feels. 0-60 9.6 seconds, I can shampoo the dog in that time. Oh and I do not own a dog so will have to buy it first

ahahaha for most cars that I race it is usually over by end of first. I have to race with the VSA on otherwise i just spin the front wheels (both of them).
I am not suprised that he won against a 1.8T since they are severely lacking in the HP department (150 vs 200) and have a similar weight to a V6 accord
Kills that are interesting for me
V8 impala (the new ones that are 303hp)
Caddy DTS (look on drivers face when he stomped on it and I just stopped him and started pulling immediately) sucks for him to be down at least 32HP and 500lbs heavier
Nissan 350Z driver who could not pull on me on the FWY (pretty even match up there)
Headers and intake for a nice comfortable 47HP increase in power is money well spent....ability to suprise many a car...priceless
I want a new TL type S then I saw that you cannot add headers.... and that the HP increase over the current TL/CL type S cars is not worth it. I am really suprised that 3.5L does not give acura more than 300 ponies...we were expcting the TL type S to be over 300 ponies since the current accord is 240HP.........

I got stomped into the ground by a grand prix (GTO? GTP? no idea) once.... be carefull which one you race and if they debadge it you could be in for a pretty serious hurting when they take off... *LOL* I knew nothing about those cars then a few weeks later my dealership too in a 2000ish GTP and I drove it and found out why he laughed at me....
yeah those thing are quick...lol 280hp but they are bloated bigs in the weight department....I had one as a rental (2006) and I didn't like it and the accord felt quicker...althought it isn't (accord V6 is more rev happy)....
Isn't the 1.8T like 170 or 180 hp vs 200hp? No surprise there ya won. My buddies at work race a lot, a 2002 Jetta 1.8t (180 hp) vs a 1999 mustang v6 (190 hp) and 4 times out of 5 the jetta wins. Both are 5 speed manuals, and it's funny how the mustang always gets smoked. I think the mustang keeps losing because he's bad at driving manual, but it's fun to watch lol.
