I always keep a portable air compressor (the kind you plug into the cigarette lighter) in my trunk along with a tire plugging kit in case I ever need it. There is a handy little spot back there that fits the tire plugging kit wonderfully. However, the air compressor is constantly banging around back there. Every time I take a turn I hear "plunkplunkplunkplunk..wham!" Even if I try to take it easy on turns.
So my question is: does anyone else like to keep items such as this in their trunk? And if so, how do you keep it from flopping around all over the place? I almost wonder if the thing still worksit has been taking such a beating back there

 

I'm a fan of getting one of those rubbermade style tubs with the lid so I can put all my automotive repair/safety stuff in it, keeps it neat, organized and from bouncing around, then pack a blanket or two in around the stuff inside just in case you ever get stranded in the cold.

 

Good call. I still think the rubbermadecontainer would slam around back there though. Plus it will take up a lot of room. Then were am I going to store my dead hookers?

 

I mean a tub that is fairly short and fits everything nicely, then punch a hole or something in the side of it and secure it to the back corner of the trunk

seriously though, you think thats noisy? try listening to a loose bowling ball or two when it breaks free from the pile...

 

I think it's more distressing that I am afraid the air compressor will break from all the abuse. Don't want it to be $30 flushed down the crapper. I went looking for tubs at WalMart. Stupidly I didn't measure the compressor, so I didn't buy one yet.

 

Why not just bungee it to the plastic hook? Better yet, muffler strapping.
