Does anyone know if a coupe accelerates faster than a sedan? My friend has the same car as my dad except it's a coupe and I swear it accelerates faster than my dad's sedan.

^^coupes weigh less and have the same engine so I think they accelerate faster

I have a coupe but I would have to say sedan if you want easy access to the backseat.

I think they only weigh 50lbs less. Can 50lbs make that much of a difference? I was thinking that they could have different gear ratios.

Should be the same gear ratios, 50 lbs isn't a huge difference but it will make SOME difference. It's probably more of a perspective thing, having large side windows allow you to see more stuff fly by faster...Unless they are two different models... For example a 94 Accord DX is a 2.2L but it's SOHC, 94 Accord EX 2.2L SOHC V-Tec, same engine, slightly different setup, about 15HP difference

You're smart to stop and think this through. That's not chump-change to get into a new Accord.

Looks is all a matter of personal taste, so only you can answer that one. But smaglik makes a good point; with the right color and a little tint, the sedans can be pretty slick. My '89 was a sedan, 'cuz that's what the wife wanted. My '92 was a sedan, 'cuz I didn't like the coupes as much. My '94 & '98 were both coupes 'cuz they looked better (to me), but I'm not carting any kids around. Sometimes I think a second set of doors would make it simple to throw a box or bag of something in the back seat for the times I don't want to use the trunk, so the coupe loses a point there.

So the bottom line is what looks good to you, and how practical do you want to be? How often will you have people in the back seat and for how long? Some back seats are uncomfortable, but if you're only putting two people back there to go out on the town, a short time back there is not gonna kill 'em. Accord coupes have great back seats, even for an extended period, but the big doors can be a nuisance.

If there are any performance differences in the 7th gen coupe/sedan, I doubt that it's much, and could be offset fairly easily w/ some mods - guessing here.

I forget whose sig it was on which forum, but it said something like this, "If you park your car, and as you're walking away from it and don't turn around to look at it, you're driving the wrong car."

The performance difference is going to be in whether he gets the car with an automatic or the manual. Can't go wrong with the coupe with the 6 speed manual.....
