Default What's your opinion?

Ok this is a very off topic question. I have worked for this woman as her nanny for her 3 children now for 2 months. Within this time she has had a hard time paying me on time. To date she owes me $395.00. She has owed me this for 3 weeks now. I enjoy being with her children but she is a manipulative person. I have called her the last two weeks trying to find out when she was going to pay me. She avoids answering her phone. She will call me back a day later to tell me something like her husband has not gotten home yet and he's the one who will pay me. Since she told me this I have not heard from her. So this week I didn't work because I was sick but I also don't want to do anymore work for her if she can't pay me. I really hate this situation. I have never ever had this problem with employment. I know that I work my butt off for the families I take care of. I cook, clean, take the kids to the Y, take the kids to school and other activities, I help with homework. Pretty much everything a good parent would do. I love helping prople out like this. I don't want any other job. So what does everyone think I should do? I also wanted to ask is anyone from NC and do you need a nanny?

You sound like an excellent nanny. Ditch the dead beats, from what you have said getting another nanny job shouldn't be too hard with your work ethic. To get your money (warning: info might be drastic and excessive) go to places where this woman works and run into her. Go to her job, where she shops, etc. Or find ol' money bags himself at his work. And just kill them with kindness. That is the type of stuff I had to do when people owed me money.

Go to her house when you are sure they are both home and demand what is owed to you in front of both parties. It's possible that he's not aware of the debt. Make sure that you have your hours worked, dates, etc. written down to prove what is owed. $400 ain't chump change!!!! Obviously working for them in the future is financial suicide.

Be nice but don't take no for an answer.

Thank you for reading and answering back. I have not talked to her recently but this week things will be resolved. I have my hours posted on a board at their home and they both know they owe me. This week she is supposed to be going to Las Vegas to do a job and I'm supposed to stay with the kids. I'm going to work it out some how so that I will get paid and I will not be helping her anymore. I really hate this for the kids because they are great kids but I'm just afraid to keep working. I will also be looking for a new job this week. It's just a real bummer. Thank you guys for always being there no matter what subjects I post!!!

obviousely trying to resolve this in a friendly matter is the best way,,, but if they won't pay go to small claim's court

2 things i do not get........

# 1 .. they owe you money and avoid you and yet have the audacity to ask you to stay with the kids while she goes to vegas .??..GEE ...

# 2 ..sounds like that you like the kids a lot .. but why go through this all over again ?? hoping that they pay you in full ??

I hope i am wrong ,,, but i am willing to bet that she will pay you some and tell you she will pay the rest later ...

Just let her know that her LasVegas trip is off unless she takes her children with her, maybe the magic money will appear then..
Good Luck Nanny
Tell her to Show You The Money!

Get payment up front for any work that you are going to do. You like the kids so it might be a nice comprimise to get paid upfront.

Well I wanted to let everyone know what's going on with this situation. I have recently gotten a check from her with the amount owed and I took it to her bank and the money is not in the account. I'm going to keep trying to cash it and if I can't eventually get paid I'll see her in court. I also do not plan to keep working with her. She told me that by this past weekend that I would be paid in full and the money would be in the account. She called me Saturday and said that she would give me cash(which she left a message) because there was no money in the account. So when she gave me the check she lied again. I called her back and there was no answer. I'm just sick of it . If I'm not paid out by the end of this week I'm going to spend the $80.00 and take her to court. Actually, she wrote me a bad check so in the state of NC that's illegal. I wouldn't have to pay anything the state will go after her for me. I hate that this ended lke this but I can't keep being understanding.

Enough is enough. Bring her before the judge. You have been more than understanding. Just make sure you have some kind of documentation stating the hours that you worked.
