Why did I do that?

Why did I do that?
So I'm driving in the road warrior (07 Pilot) for ~11 hours last week with not much to do. The wife and I are talking, she is playing on her phone (facebook, e-mail, who knows).
At one point she is reading on the phone and goes "oh wow". Of course I ask what.
A friend of hers is moving to OH this weekend. They are in a "moving sale" mode, if we don't really want to move it....sell it.
So my wife tells me that they were selling a 78 Ford pick up - it was listed at $1500 and as of last week Thurs they dropped the price to $1000.
Since I'd been driving for a while, guess I got weak. I told the wife to tell her friend that if they don't sell it by this Thusday - today -(she is leaving this Saturday, the husband is alreay in OH), let us know the bottom line price they would take for it.
So they didn't even wait till today. They replied back last Thursday that $600 and it was ours. I said ok
So I bought a 78 Ford pick up, unseen and all of that for $600 last Thursday?
Still haven't seen the truck, I think I get to tomorrow???? Again all I really know is it is a 78 Ford pickup with a 460 (prob gets all of 5 MPG going downhill).....don't even know if it is an auto or manual, 2 or 4 wd, or is it 1/2 - 3/4 or 1 ton. The husband "suposedly" drove it to work in Durham everyday, that would be a ~50 mile round trip at best.
Anyway, the Pilot did it's job. A 2,100 mile trip in seven days with zero issues and turned over 140K on the way back. All it needs is a good bath - the nose on that thing kills more bugs than anything I've ever owned.
Anyone want an old Ford truck, I'll sell it cheap - $1000?

Well at least I'll have something to work on....the Honda's I only get to change oil and that.
A BB Ford (460)....humm. If the body is good. Put 3~5K into the motor, trans and drive line....one tire smoking garbage truck .
Hey if nothing else I can use it to haul/tow stuff and not worry about damage...some things I put into the back of the Pilot just make me cry.
And my carb tuning skills will get and update - pretty sure those old fords ran holley carb's.
All a guess until I get to see it....updates this weekend. And I admit, might have been a bad decision on a $600 toy......never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Somebody at work asked if the AC worked,,,again I don't know. But I bet I can put a 200LBS york compressor on it, make my own lines and have ac for almost nothing....can't kill those old york compressors.

You will do fine with your Ford..they are great cars and trucks..been driving either a Ford, Lincoln or a Mercury for the last 30 years ...along with Hondas, Hyundais, chevys, pontiac, oldsmobiles, Fiats, and others..
It's all how you take care of the MACHINES as how they treat you back.. Oh Yea! I forgot the 2 Studebakers I had..a silver and a gold hawk..

So if I went for an Accord. Don't really want a coupe but that is the only way to get a manual trans...decisions.
Anyway if I get something not as much as the TL (45K), go with something in the 30K range. That would leave ~15K in "my car fund".....humm I could do a lot of those things I've been putting off on the Chevelle for that amount of money
