Wife's new ride.

Wife's new ride.
The wife finally took delivery of her new car, a 2006 Volvo V70R today.
Her old car (2001 v70 T5) had its fair share of problems, and was going to need a few thousand in maintenance over the next year or so. It was also getting up there in mileage so decided to get rid of it.
Was originally looking for a 98-00 V70R but couldnt pass this car up when we saw it. It is Sonic blue with 6 speed manual transmission. I know not too much Volvo love on here but there are less than 100 of these in the states. Sonic blue is the most sought after and rarest V70/S60R color. Its also quite pretty and reminds me of my old Accord. Only down side is it has "gobi" aka tan interior. And with most people charging $2,000 for their "atacama" aka orange interior it'll probably stay tan.
We'll see how she holds up. The Rs are known to have somewhat high maintenance costs, but the later years 06 and 07 seem to be a bit better. Biggest known issue is the angle gear. If you can get away with just the collar stripping out its only $300 for parts, but if the actual gear gets stripped its over $1200.
Now the wife just needs to learn how to drive manual. I tried to teach her a few times back in the day on my Accord but it never really stuck. But now she doesnt have a choice but to learn.

Yeah it seems like she really just thinks about it too much. She said she brought it out and did 1st gear starts fine the first 5 or 6 times. Then she got nervous when a car came and stalled it a few times.

Yea, sounds like she just needs to get passed "thinking/worring" about it.
I have to "think" more when I drive an auto . Natural for me to want to go for the clutch....yes I have "stabbed" the big brake pedal in an auto more than once.....just checking the brakes, right
I pulled the right rear wheel and looked at the brakes yesterday? Nothing really jumped out. So I will have to dig further on another day. Looked like a DIH e-brake set up on it, like I said I didn't dig into it much. I did notice the other day, took it around the block since it hasn't moved in about two weeks, at slow speeds when the clicking starts you can grab the e-brake a bit and the "click" will stop.....hummm.

I have been a victim of the brake check before too. But my daily driver has been an auto for a few years now(even though I would prefer it not to be).
Its up to you Scott. Its not something I want you to spend too much of your or especially your money on. I can always dig into it when I get home.

Looks like they like each other
Looks like a few of the boxes I left in the back are still there - you can have fun when you get back.
EDIT: And the yard looks much better than what was described when she got back there.
