Ya know you would

I have to say it would be tempting....but no. Now I would try a zero to the speed limit time run.
For anything else, there is a small local track. I haven't been in a long time but it was fun last time I went.
Cool pic though, where is that?

I respect your choice, Poorman... yet in all honesty, I'll admit that if the conditions were safe, I would definitely run it full throttle.
Have no idea where the location is, found the photo in a gallery online

You know, if that were me behind the wheel... With my luck there's a cruiser with a radar gun just behind those trees.
Lots of courses have a public 'track day' every so often. It's a lot more fun when the road ISN'T straight.

Jim,
When I said, "guaranteed safe" that included the road be closed-off and with police permission... I know that is a fantasy... yet still. I understand about the 'open public' day at some tracks, however, I've never been into the round-n-round and drag strips are too short for my purpose... like I said, just a fantasy.
Thanks for responding

Under those conditions I would absolutely do it. I guess a couple interstates out west don't have a speed limit. I drove the German Autobahn flat out but the rental car I could afford was a base ford escort (back in 1982) - it eventually got to 160 kph.

Yes, thirty years ago, while visiting Yellowstone, we were on a stretch of Interstate in either Wyoming or Montana (don't remember which exactly) that had no speed limit... it was posted, 'Drive Safely'.. or something to that effect. Had the family with me though, so did not max out the vehicle

Short answer: I would like to think so.
Long answer: A few years ago, when I had my old Accord coupe, I was photographing an event and the roads were closed by the police. I was given permission to drive at basically whatever speed I wanted between stations where I was photographing. The end result? I still drove the speed limit. Sigh.

No shoulders, too many places for deer to jump out, cars to pull out and cops to hide.
The place to do it is western interstates.
How fast is an Accord? Never been able to find the top speed of my '14 Accord 2.4 with the six speed. I'm guessing the computer stops the fun at 118 mph.
