Default 1997 V6 2.7l Accord Lx Head Gasket Top End Rebuild

97 v6 -- thinking head gaskets, or cracked head (water shoots from radiator while cranking)

Now, do I strip it down and rebuild top end, or just buy a reman engine for 350.00 (with warranty) and slap it in there?

At 290K miles, I'd go with a rebuilt engine from a reputable supplier. Maybe search car-part.com to see if there are any low mileage V6 engines at junkyards in your area.

I've never seen a V6 get pulled from a 5th gen accord, but I think you should be able to pull the engine from the top. You probably have to take off the a/c and everything off that side of the engine. Not sure if you'll have to take off the harmonic balancer pulley.

I got the axles off, radiator pulled, alt and ps pulled -- going to try and detach the a/c and keep it connected and not lose the charge in it. Should I be filming this for youtube? lol

I am always a fan of fix what you have over buy another used. Because at least yours you know whats wrong with it, a used engine is always a gamble.

The engine I'm looking at getting has 72k miles on it for $450.00 -- vs mine with 290k miles on it. I could spend 500 on getting a rebuild kit and completely redoing it.. but..

ps.. that engine is SO heavy, it kept trying to tip over my cherry picker -- I had to back my suv up to it and chain it down. But if you notice, I lifted the entire front of the car with the cherry picker with 0 issue, 0 tipping
