going down the highway

RE: going down the highway
the gps function could get you pulled over cuz if theres a cop sitting in the same place everyday then the gps systems gonna think its not a cop. mines basically the same thing as the x50 but better.

RE: going down the highway
that's just not true ..... look it up. When the GPS doesn't get a signal it reverts to an X50 detector. When you mark a false alert, it records gps location, signal strength and frequency. Even if a cop sat in the exact same spot and his radar was the exact same frequency (virtually impossible), the detector would still go off because the strength would be different. As for the Bel vs. X50, they are exactly the same inside ..... made in the same factory for the same company from the same parts. It's just a different outter case and label. The only reason that they still make Bel products is that Escort recently bought them. It's always nice to see the "mine is better than yours" areguments though ..... makes me think pretty highly of your research.

RE: going down the highway
I'd be scared to drive that fast during the day. There are way too many cops in my area looking for an easy ticket to write.
As far as pushing your car, I have heard from many car experts that it is good to push your car every once in awhile, for a short time. Of course, driving it hard every day will really wear it down, but exercising a machine is kinda similar to exercising your body...Let it sit around, and things will build up, rust over, whatever. It won't hurt a healthy machine to push its capabilities...Now, I would be worried if the OP was redlining the car that entire time, or driving like that habitually. Besides, I imagine that a large number of posters here have gone on a similar drive in their lifetime...

100,000+ miles and driven like that regularly? Sure would suck to have your timing belt break at 6k rpms. Even if it's fairly new, there's a chance it could break. I was driving at 20 mph and had just engaged the clutch in my CRX when the timing belt broke. It was 11 months old. The water pump had a horrible malfunction and the fins of the pump dug into the housing of it when the bearing went. It just stopped. Which stopped everything else, and the timing belt was torn to shreds. Now imagine something like that happening at 6k rpms. Good bye valves :*(

RE: going down the highway
Itake bake my wrong information escort did buy out beltronics which is fine. Also the escort does have 2 more programmable options than the bel but the bel is not 100% the same. I did test my RX65Pro tomy friends passport 8500 x50 and i was picking up signals before he was also you can read this article from a good source on which one is better it looks like the escort and bel are almost the same besides the different shell but at least we can both say they are better than the V1
