Default Replacing rear lower shock mount bushing

What's the easiest way to replace the lower shock mount bushing on a '96 Accord (I assume it's the same for a wide range of years) on the car?

I am planning to try the bolt/washer/pipe method of pulling the old bushing out and pulling the new one in. Can I just use the new bushing to push the old one out as I pull it in? Or will it damage the new bushing?

Also, has anyone just used a hammer and punch or drift to remove the old bushing?

Thanks. John
