Default 18 inch tires

ok i want to get these tires....225/45/18...BUT i checked on tirerack and it said that the tires should be 215/40/18, i know you can get the tires pretty wide...but what about the wall? i mean my car is not lowered in anyway...and won't be anytime soon... but is it possible to get theses tires? 225/45/18 without having any issues? thanks

Why do you want the higher profile tire?
The 40 series tire is actually going to have a smaller overall diameter than the 45, when we are comparing 18's to 18's. I would think that the 18 40 series is goin to fill up your wheel well quite nicley and depending on high tight is in there you might be dodging rub issues. Plus, the lower the profile, typically, the better the handling.

well one reason is because theres a lot of pot holes in NY...and i've seen my friends go through a set of tires less than a year, and some of the tires were brand new! ALSO someone is selling some 225/45/18s for fairly cheap around by me, and i just want to mount the rims on my car, BUT i do not want to have any issues with it, so if there are any issues with the tires then obviously i won't get them, but if i can i will...my car is not made for handling, at least not yet...also i do not want to get 40s because i'm also scared, since my car is not lowered, it'll look like a 4x4....so what do you think? do you really think i will have issues with the tires? cause if so then i won't get them, but my car is not lowered in any way, its bone stock..thanks for the help

Do you have an older or 4 cylinder Accord or something? I know my 06 V6 came stock with 215/50/17's which the overall diamater is 25.5 and has too much gap for my taste...a 215/40/18 is only going to be 24.8 in diameter leaving more gap and needing the speedo adjusted...the 215/45/18 is 25.6 which is a great match

But back to your original question the 225/45/18 is a 26 in diameter would help close some of the gap though again the speedo will be off...depending on the offset of the rim there is chance the tire will rub on bumps though

195/60/15????

I think so and if that is the case it is 24.2 in diamater and the 215/40/18 at 24.8 (which will have 1/2" less gap than now) is prob the closest 18 you would want though it will still be 2-3% slow...the 225/45/18 is going to be huge in comparison (26 in diameter), be 7-8% off and without a huge offset (maybe a +40) I would have to think you would rub (though without a test fit hard to know for sure)

No problem and if the guy is close by I would def suggest giving them a test fit just to verify...these heights will vary some depending on rim width and such, plus as stated the offset will make a difference where it sits in the wheel well
