Default 2010 Coupe - Need advice on tires and rims

Hi all,

My friend recently purchased a 2010 Coupe. He got two sets of wheels with it. The OEM rims, with really ugly damage to the clear coat, have Michelin Pilots P235/45r18 94V. The chrome wheels, which are nice and shiny, have P225/45r18 91V, which the seller said he purchased directly from the dealer. The P225 is currently on the car. The tires are not in great shape, so I was wondering if it would be Ok to take the P235 from the OEM rims and put them on the chrome.

The chrome rim is 18x7.5. I believe the offset is 55mm. Does anyone know the specs for the OEM rim? I didn't get a chance to look. He wants to keep the chrome wheels on the car for the summer and get a set of winter tires for the OEM tires in the winter.

On a side note...I know that when upsizing, the Load Index should be equal or higher to the OEM. Does this also apply to downsizing. I have limited tire knowledge, but the 91V seems a little low.

Hope I made sense.

Thanks for your help!

Upsizing or downsizing, you need the load rating.

However, the stock 94v might have exceeded "the minimum". Owner's manual probably has the minimum load rating somewhere in the specifications. For example it might say minimum 91 even tho the factory installs 94 on the new car.
