Question 225/55r17

Can I replace my 225/50r17 tires with size 225/55r17? I can double the mileage, cheaper. This is for an Accord EX, 2009.

Well I'm not a tire expert, try one of our sponor sites, Tire Rack......

Anyway, 255 is the size across the tread in mm, the 50 or 55 is the percentage of that number that is the side wall...so I'm guessing they will be 12.75~13 mm taller than what is on there.....

Good guess.. 225/50/17 = SW=8.9,SH=4.4, OD=25.9"
225/55/17 = SW=8.9,SH=4.9, OD=26.7"

As long as the car has not been lowered I say that the tires will both fit...Now..According to my Tire and Wheel bible..the larger recommend whell combo for that, would be the 225/50/17" combo..which is the OEM system that comes on the car wheither it's a 4dr or a coupe.

Wanna Be! bigger.? go to the 235/45/18" combo....
