Civic TypeR alloys on Euro Accord

I have a 05 Accord with currently 16 inch standard alloys on and 205/55/16 tyres
I have some 03 17" TypeR alloys that look good on the car but the tyre size is 205/45/17. This is leaving me with a big gap between the wheel and arch.
I could either lower the car by about 35mm or since 2 need replacing and 1 is bad anyway put 205/50/17's on. Do you think the higher profile tyre would be a better idea than lowering.
I am not such a fan of lowering since I do not live on the best roads and I have seen results from lowerd cars and they tend to hit of the arches going over bumpy terain, and is worse with passengers.
Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Well sir as I see it..your tires are to start with wrong according to my sources..they were supposed to be 205/65/16...
If you go to 17" tires and wheels the tyres would be 215/50/17 .
To the best of my knowledge..I would be corresct...
