whats the deal w/ a lot of rims having the allen hex heads around the rim? wtf is that all about.??? i'll see a rim i want, then upon a closer look, they have those dam hex heads on there.

 

They're either for show or actual 3-piece wheels. The pieces are an inner rim, outer rim and spokes/hub. It allow wheels manufacturers to provide custom width and offset wheels.

Some cheaper companies just mold them there to make them imitate a 3-piece wheel.
