Need tire advice
I replaced my factory Bridgestones at 96K with Yokohoma Avids. I do a lot of highway driving and was very unhappy with the hydroplaning with the Bridgestones. I read a lot of positive reviews on the Avids and was very happy with them for awhile. I now have 50K on them and they need to be replaced. They are EXTREMELY noisy. They also wore out much faster in the center of the tire, which is usually a sign of over inflation... but I always keep them inflated to the spec on the door frame (I believe 32psi). I'm used to getting at least 80K on my tires, so I am disappointed at the durability of these. Perhaps that's the trade-off for better grip? If I get them again should I underinflate slightly in hopes for more even wear? Can anyone suggest a different tire with good wet grip and long life for about $100? I drive 36K a year and I can't afford to spend a fortune on tires. Thanks!
bf goodrich traction ta's are great tires for the winter and wet weather in general. i have had mine on for 42,000 miles. two of the tires are wearing out faster because they were in the front and we had a pretty bad winter. they are rated to go 60,000 miles. 96,000 miles on a tire is awesome!
