I've hit 0.95 g's skidpad on OEM size tires. Nothing wrong with keeping it stock size!!! BTW, they were Yokohama AVS db S2's and I DON'T recommend them because the dual depth rain channels cracked completely around all 4 tires in a year and a half! The cracks may not have effected performance, but I'm not comfortable with 2 spits in each tire!
ugh... I had a set of Avid A4's on my car a few years back and they squealed on every turn and hydroplaned horribly. Maybe they have gotten better but these had a treadwear rating of 260 but no traction to back it up.
I base my purchases on the negative customer reviews of products, not their posted ratings .... while ratings do give valid info, reviews tell you the real world performance of the product.
I wasn't the one who chose the tires, my stepdad replaced them before I turned 16 and gave the car to me, but I agree with you on the reviews. It just made me angry that the Kumhos I have now have the same treadwear and tons more traction, but I didn't choose those tires either, they came with the wheels.
I hear you ... I chose the Yoko's, but my current tires are Nan Kang's. They are pretty good, I lost some traction due to an experiment .... they are 225/60-15 rather than 205/65-15's. I got them wholesale for $200 for all 4.
