I have 225/40/18 on my 04 accord that is costing me more money than I ever had to spend on my old 95 3000gt vr4. Every year, I had to repair the wheels due to running into the pot holes. I figure that brand of the wheel have something to do with this issue as well, but I just can not bare it anymore and regret taking off the stock rims.

I currently have stock suspension setup and do not see problems putting on 225/45/18.
Can I go to higher profile than 225/45/18? (before the tires starts rubbing)

Although current tires are relatively new I am willing to buy new set of tires if it can help protect the wheels from bending away.

Will the new tires (225/45/18) help prevent the wheel damage, if any?

Also, do the wheels more likely to bend again, once repaired from bending?
When I first bought the new wheels, it lasted about a year before it had its first damage. Then after the repair, it seems to occur every 5 to 6 months.

a bent piece of metal will bend again twice as easily. its probably your wheels that need to be changed out. a pot hole shouldnt bend an 18 inch wheel on your car.

Whether they will bend easier will depend on the repair shop. I have had a few friends have their wheels repair at the local shop for me and they have had no problems. I have been told that they claim that the wheel will be as strong or stronger than new.
I am running 18s with 225/45-r18 on my 03 and have had no problems. My next set of tires will be 235/45-r18 You may be able to run a 50 profile. When you get new tires look into the quality of the sidewall. A tire with a stiffer sidewall will protect you wheel better.
