Default two different rim sizes on car. possible-?

hey guyz, i haven't driven my car for awhile and left it @ home for a month (away in college). ne wayz, i returned home to find that my somewhat-new rear rimz had curb damage due to the sloppy driving of a family member. long story short, i am going to replace these rims.

the question is: ('o3 accord) the rims currently are 17" with 225/50 tirez. i have future plans to upgrade to 18"'s with 225/40 tires. i'm wondering if having a car with 17" rims on the front and 18" in the rear will cause any problems-? i know this situation is weird but please adapt accordingly-!

please keep in mind the following:
- i know some people will suggest to wait and buy all 18's in one sitting but i found a deal that has two of these 18"'s left in stock @ clearance price.
- these will be on for a year or so before i upgrade to all 18". (due to limited budget.)
- my car will be lowered with TEIN basics.

thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions-!

using different sized rims may cause handling problems since the tire / rim combonation are diffferent for front and rear........
