"Wheel Weight Lip" VS "No Wheel Weight Lip"
 

Hello, I'm shopping for a replacement original equipment wheel for my wife's '07 SE. I keep seeing reference to a "Wheel Weight Lip" and "No Wheel Weight Lip". Go easy on me... is there a easy way to determine what type she has now? Is there a lip dimension I can take to know for sure? (And No, there are no weights on the outside now...)

I also just posted a WTB in this forum's WTB area. I thought that I'd try that before I try to find a good deal online.

That refers to the shape of the outer lip of the rim. It doesn't affect the fitting of tires, but it DOES affect what kind of balance-weights can be used.

Clip-on weights (similar to what you'd use on a steel wheel) need a thinner lip, and some room to clip them on. If you get a "no-lip" wheel then you have to use glue-on weights. At least on the outboard lip of the wheel. With modern wheel-balancing equipment, shops should be able to use whichever kind of weight is required for the wheel.

Here's an example where there's no lip for clip-on weights. Compare against the inboard rim; pretty much all wheels can take clip-on weight on the inboard rim.
