I particularly agree with your statement around the concerns related to Android OS and device stability and direct sunlight impacts.+ supporting frames are very weak on the top of that lots of hanging cables can be a cause of constant rattling sounds and ruin driving experience.
One should also be mindful of cybersecurity, as these android systems are not google certified and most of them are rooted, which means that back door is always open in these units.
However, there are some good brand out there like Sony, that didn’t use Android OS and if you buy premium series headunits, you can get decent quality display.
We get lots of sunshine in our country, and I struggled to see the camera during day time, in my factory Nav display. After putting Sony XAV9500, most of my issues have been resolved and it has survived one summer 😀
I was able to get away from hanging cables and loose frames. However, it requires lots of effort and some knowledge of wiring.

Overseas radios, mainly from China, predominantly utilize Android software intended for tablets. These devices lack anti-glare screens, making them challenging to read in daylight, and they tend to drain quickly due to their unsuitability for automotive use, being designed for controlled indoor environments. Companies like Sony, Pioneer, and JVC refrain from incorporating Android into their radios precisely because it's ill-suited for such purposes. However, if your vehicle comes with factory navigation and you seek to integrate CarPlay, there's no need to replace the entire radio unit unless you're also enhancing the audio system with upgraded speakers and amplifiers.

Thanks DashLynx, for sharing this useful summary. Many end users are not aware of these details

Well....finally got the new unit in but it didn't go as smooth as it could. Main issue was the frame fascia. It extended down to the clock and was not tucked in so I has to cut the bottle piece of the frame off. Pictures will be below. Kind of disappointed about that but after cutting it, everything fit snug.

The only thing now is to fully install the backup camera and trying to decide if i should run the radio through the new unit or keep it on the factory stereo. Also, I need a new frame that fits or try to fix it.

Now it's just about trying to figure out how to operate the unit. Disappointed about the connection to my android phone tho. I can do wireless with audio and calls but I can't mirror the screen unless its plug in the usb. Even then the USB plug connection is spotty.

Don't install those oversized screens. They will seriously injure you or damage your face if they come loose during an accident, or if a piece of the screen flies into your eye.

It could potentially kill you

Airbags deploy at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour (mph) in just 1/20th of a second.

Watch the video and see the path of the airbag. This is serious stuff. There's a reason why your factory-installed screen is installed the way it is.

Is the audio issue resolved?
Did FM retention cable work ?
To help other people, can you please share how did you wire it?

Yes the audio resolved but I was not able to get the FM radio working yet. I am missing another portion of the FM retention but I don't really know yet if I want to run the radio through the new unit yet.

Does the head unit dim automatically or go into dark mode when head lights are turned on?

Wow....you did really have to make one for the unit. I got to figure out how I should fix those bottom edges of the frame better.
So no, the screen doesn't dim. Wish it did but what I did was lower all the brightness. Also, I am still figuring out all the kinks and all of the unit. Still haven't gotten to the backup camera yet because I haven't had time. I will definitely post some pics tho of my install.
