My lovely wife let brake dust sit on the Alloy wheels for over a month, and now it''''s hard enough to endure me scraping my fingernail over it without budging.  What can I use to get this off without destroying the finish?
By the way, they are 05 Acura TL Alloys.

Car wash soap in a bucket, a soft scrub brush, and some elbow grease. If that doesn''''''''''''''''t cut it then look for Poorboy''''''''''''''''s wheel cleaner on the internet.

Grease lightning or simple green are what I use on tough brake dust.

A long time ago, I used to use SOS pads from the kitchen. But I don''t know if that is ok for the finish or not. It sure worked well though! I used it on my Mustang Pony wheels which are grey anyway (it never did any damage). I have ugly plastic wheel covers covering the steelies on my 2000 Model. And I never wash the money pit, although it does have alloys.

That made me crack up at work! Hahaha

Most wheel-specific cleaners have an acid in them to eat away at the dust... they say their safe for the finish.... :-/
