This is for a 6th gen, but it should be similar for you.
- Remove the top and bottom steering column covers (3 screws on bottom, clips on top)
- Unscrew the 2 screws holding the switch in (it's on the left side of the column attached to the end of the key cylinder)
- Unplug the ignition harness from the driver kick panel fuse box
- Remove the switch.
To install
- Slide the new switch over the the square shaped end of the key cylinder.
- Plug the harness in.
- Put the covers back on.
I typed it fast, let me know if you need more detail.

do you want to remove just the cylinder or the whole thing?

If you want to remove the key cylinder and the switch as a complete assembly is to a.) cut slots in the 2 shear bolts holding the cylinder to the steering column and remove them with a slotted screwdriver or b.) drill the bolts out. I've done B and it's difficult considering the limited space you have to work with. If I ever had to do it again I'd try A with a Dremel tool first.

They're shear bolts. The bolt heads are designed to shear right off at a certain torque, most likely to prevent tampering with the ignition if you're car is in the process of getting stolen, but I really have no clue. All I know is that when I removed the ignition assembly to sell, it was a major PITA to drop down the steering column to get a drill in there. Dremel with a cut-off wheel should do the trick.

The bolts look like big rivets on either side. Just cut slots into them s a flat head screwdriver will fit. If you cut the bolts you're just, in theory, shearing them again and you'll have to extract them outside of the car. I've done it and it's not easy.

You do know that if you replace the key cylinder, your ignition key won't match the door and trunk locks, right?

Well a new ignition assembly should come with them, a Honda dealer should have them, online parts dealers might have them, especially Majestic Honda.
Just cut the slots little by little until you can get a good grab with the screwdriver. That's the only way you'd be able to reuse them.

It's no problem! Did the used ignition come with the shear bolts? It should really matter though, you can use just about any bolts that is long enough and has the same threads, I don't know what's so special about the shear bolts, other than it making it harder to remove the ignition.

Sounds like you're set to go. I don't think Menards or Home Depot or Lowes sells metric threaded bolts. i really want to say the thread is 8x1.25 (in millimeters), should be something by 1.25 if I'm wrong.
