I had 0%s on my suburban, way to dark to see out at night. 5%s you can see if there is some light outside, from other cars or street lights. 10%s is what I have now. I can see fine at night and in the day you can't really see in the car, sometimes you can just see there is someone in it, but not what they're doing. I recomend 5% if your going to be doing illegal things while driving or parked somewhere.

Does anyone know what is the darkest you can tint the front w/o getting a ticket?

That depends on your state, its usually either 35% or 50%. I know in Florida its 35%, but that is the only law they don't enforce and no one abides by it.

EDIT: If you mean the windshield I think thats illegal in every state.

i like my 15%, i think it looks good, but it is all about opinion (unless you are planning to do something illegal, like t00fat said, then you should get 2.5%).  in california, the darkest you can have on the driver and passenger (front) windows is 70%...lol

5% is hard to see out of at night, btw.

Oh ok I live in Cali so is 70% even worth it? Also is it hard to buy a tinting kit and do it yourself? If so what are some good ones?

I would not do a DIY tint job... unless you have magical talent you'll probably get bubbles or accidently separate the 2 layers of poly or whatever it is. 70% seems like a waste of money since it will be barely dark. The legal limit here in MN is 50% and even that seems nearly clear when I see it.

Yes don't do it your self, your going to leave a ton of bubbles and maybe even wrinkles. If the legal limit is 70% I would just say screw it and go for some real tints.

I don't get why you would want to even go darker than 15%.  That's pretty dang dark!  I have 35% all around and it's dark enough at night time.  My brother put 20% on his Charger R/T and I think it's too dark.  It looks nice, but you can't see jack out of it at night.
