I think i'm going to go with this turbonetics kit, since I wont need to have my car tuned after installing it. Also, turbonetics is a well known brand and say that they back all of their products completely. This is what the kit contains. Does it sound good and what else would I need with this kit? Also, does anyone have this kit on their car that you know of?
Kit Includes*
  • Ceramic Ball Bearing Turbocharger (T3/T4 Hybrid or Custom T04E)
  • Spearco Intercooler System
  • Powder-Coated Intercooler Piping
  • Silicone Hose / T-Bolt Clamps
  • Exhaust Manifold - high carbon cast-steel with ceramic coating
  • Fuel / Timing Controller (electronic fuel / timing management system)

  • "Evolution" Wastegate Assembly
  • "Raptor" By Pass / Blow Off Valve Assembly

Turbonetics is a good, if not the best turbo kit on the market. It is expensive though. You could probably save $1000-1500 if you bought all the pieces seperately. That's the route I'm going. I would post a link to the kit your talking about. How much does it run... around $3500???

These parts are pieces of crap. You're gonna end up replacing or upgrading them. And LOL at not needing your car tuned after you install it. Good luck with that.

Yeh and on top of paying fo the kit you may want extra stuff like oil cooler, transmission cooler, etc. This is true, You'll definately need some tuning done after the install....

oh i remember the last car i saw someone put a turbo on and not have it dynoed............lasted about a week before the piston popped out just to say hi.

and i know someone that put a turbonetics kit on their sentra SE-R,  turbo bought the farm after about a month.

I would piece a kit together rather than buying a turbonetics one.

AND DYNO TUNING IS A MUST

i pieced mine in about 5 months as i gather the $$$... and i dynoed it... so u better do that if u truly love u car... or else u'll get a piece of junk in ur driveway as soon as u step on the gas...

Well, I know nothing about tuning a car myself, so where could I have this done at? I've heard that sometimes if you have the wrong person tune your car it can turn out worse than the settings from the company. I think the page that had this kit was around $3500. I know that's a lot of money, but it's convenient, came with instructions(a very good thing for me), and I thought I could use the settings from turbonetics(which I can't aparently lol). If I bought all of these pieces seperately how would I know they would go together? I'm not being sarcastic, I seriously don't know, lol. I'd imagine there would be some custom work which would need to be done, right?

first, ask someone at a speed shop where's the nearest dyno... and i bought the whole thing 4 $2800.00 but i've got way much more things than those u listed...the only custom work will be the intercooler piping... about the directions, well we can all help there! i spent around 2,000 on the stuff listed if not less...

That right there is the problem, you want it, but you know nothing about it. Time to read up, and FYI - buying a kit like that is not the best way to do things. Do you know what kind of gas you have to run when you go turbo?

Thank you for the sites j_man_honda. They were freakin awesome at explaining some things I couldn't figure out.
And Yes, I may not know everything about a turbocharger, and yes, even though I dont know I still want one. There's nothing wrong with that. If I knew everything I would not be here asking questions. We all have to start somewhere when we dont know something... By the way BlkCurrantKord, it would be more helpful to tell me what gas I'd need to use rather than point out the fact that I dont know. I'm not planning on putting this in over the next weekend or anything. It probably wont be for five or six months till I install anything, so I have until then to figure it out.
So now i'm thinking that I'm going to buy the pieces over the winter and slowly, as I learn stuff, piece them together and figure this out. I'll probably have tons of questions, but I found a lot of things i'm reading about turbos right now so I'll ask them when I'm done. But until then, what pieces or brands should I avoid in particular when it comes to this?

Don't worry bro I knew nothing about turbos 3 months ago and now I'm pretty educated on it. By the way, most people on this forum are happy to ask your questions, a few will just keep you wondering. Check out my thread Piecing Together my F23 Turbo Kit, i'm getting ready to boost my accord too. I haven't got everything listed that I need but I'm adding them as I find them. Most, if not everything you need you can get off ebay. Just be careful with buying a $150 turbo off ebay. I'm not gonna buy the turbo itself off ebay, i'm still lookin around. Feel free to ask all the questions you want.

I could but it would hinder your learning curve. It was more of way to get you thinking rather than judge your intelligence.

i have some friends that have turboed their N/A cars, and the only thing that i would put on my car is a manual boost controller, cause i have seen many civics, eclipeses, and talons go up in smoke

Cool man. I thought you were insinuating I was stupid or something, lol. Hey guys, can I keep my car OBDII and still run a turbo and have it tuned and use a boost controller? More or less I'm looking to run turbo and pass emissions or else there's no point. But I dont want to blow up the engine either.

Pugs88:  BCK isn't trying to offend you, but he is correct that before you actually install the turbo, you should read so much that you can set the boost and know the A/F that you want and know what HP to expect in your sleep.  A turbo that is not factory tuned takes a lot of knowledge beforehand so that if there is any kind of problem, you know what is wrong and how to correct it quickly; otherwise you are playing with fire and can easily blow your engine apart.  If you run into a block in your research, ask away and anyone here will be glad to help.
