1990 Honda, I need help locating the Vehicle Speed Sensor: I am having problems with Speedo
I need help locating the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Everyone just tells me that it is mounted on the transmission. Is it on top of the transmission, on the side of the transmission next to the motor, or on the opposite side of the motor. Is there a diagram that shows how to locate the VSS. I am having problems with the speedometer working neither is the cruise control and the check engine light goes on. From what I hear it may be the Vehicle speed sensor. Is this repairable or would I have to purchase a new one. Can someone help me locate the VSS and/or give me some advice on repairing it.

Well on my accord is is directly in line with the thermostat on the back of the engine, directly below that is the VSS. It had 3 wires with a clip and two power steering lines hooked to it and sticks up about 2 inches.

Hey thanks for that digram Hondadude. Me and the old lady were trying to find it for awhile, and had no luck. Your diag. showed me where it was and the input from eric123, led me straight to it. I found it, pulled it out took it apart, and cleaned it up. It had a bunch of build up on the shaft. I thought hey theres the problem. Well I greased it put it back together put it back in the trans. and nothing. Not even a small jump to say almost. Ha ha. The spring was intact and in good cond. the shaft was cool, the magnet cool. I cant call it, any advise?

Likely the pickup coil has an open (broken wire in winding). No fix for this except replacement. I assume from your description that you removed the cap and examined the magnetic rotor, and drive.
Make sure the wiring and connector are not damaged.
Check ebay for low cost replacements.
good luck
