1992 Honda Accord DX :AT 2.2L D4 light OFF

D4 light
Thanks again for your replies,
poorman212: The D4 light comes ON for a few seconds when the ignition key is first turned (Accessary position). This is normal for this car and indicates the bulb which illuminates D4 is good. After that the D4 light stays off whatever I do. Jumper on the connector or no jumper.
Thanks, rsmith777

It could be a problem with the gear position switch.
The 94 accord used the same gear position switch as the 92, so you can test the inputs on the switch under the gear selector using the 94 shop manual. If you go to the common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum, you can open a link to online shop manuals. Page 23-168 shows the procedure.

92 Accord D4 light stays OFF
Thanks for the tip hobieslug45; I’ll keep that in mind for the next trans flush.
I worked on my daughter's car again yesterday 8/3. I readjusted the throttle cable and idle speed as per the manual that I found in the DIY section. I also took apart the shift position console and performed the test as per the service manual. Everything adjusted and checked out good. I did find however the vacuum hose going from the PCV to the PGM-FI to be almost completely clogged. When I was adjusting the throttle cable I kept hearing this gurgling sound and found the hose was filled with carbon and crud. I replaced the hose with a new one. The D4 light is still off (which I figured it would be). The car shifts from 2nd to 3rd at 35 mph and then quickly to 4th at 40 mph. It did this before and seemed to get better as the car was driven after I put in the later TCU. When I adjusted the idle as per the service manual I had to pull the main fuse that goes to the TCU and ECU for 10 sec. clearing all memory. I'll again have my daughter drive the car to see if shifting and gas mileage improve. I'll post the results in a few days.
