Default Plan B <g>

I was wondering if it might be easier installing a second, full time outlet, a little forward of the existing one.

This area- http://cl.ly/asbH/Fwd%20Panel.jpg

Yes, I’m now into radio removal, but I just saw a YouTube video, and the guy had the radio out in about 2 minutes! From there it should be a straight reach down to that panel, to install a second outlet, wired ‘full time’.

2 Questions:

1- Is there anything right behind that panel that would make this a bad idea ?

2- At what year, does Honda's "Anti Theft Radio Code" requirement begin?

Thanks again,

DB

From what I can tell there isn't anything "right" behind there.

I know some of the 5th gens (94-97) had the "code". Pretty sure ? all of the 6th and up have the code of the radio is factory.

If there’s nothing behind that panel, I think I’ll pull the radio and drop down to there for a second outlet. Should be able to tap into the (hot) lead for the hazard lights, along the way.

I was worried the radio had some internal batt that activated in the code if the radio lead itself was disconnected. But the svs manual (98-02) references the radio code for any procedural requiring the battery disconnect, and I’ve changed batts many times, without needing a code. So, thanks to the svs manual, I’m ok. (or not

Thanks again (and again

I think I found the ref to 01 Honda anti theft radio codes.

Short Version- the 01 OWNERS manual states the codes are only for the EX models.

As mine is an LX, that explains why they are mentioned repeatedly in the SERVICE manual (it covers 98-02 and all models) but that my ride (LX) never needed them when reconnecting the batt.

Yea, I get confused on radio codes.....as you stated some trim levels have them some don't....I guess the luck of the draw is that both 5th gen's I've had/have and the Pilot have radio's that require them
