Why does my accord idle sooo low?
I have a 93 Accord SE (automatic trans). No matter what the circumstances, when I start it up and its not in gear it idles fine. When its in gear and the brakes are applied it idles at about 500. The whole car vibrates really bad. However it does not stall. And when the "AC" is on its even worse. But like I said, only at a dead stop and in gear does it do this. Even when the car is warmed up. Any help would be wonderful.....Thanks

RE: Why does my accord idle sooo low?
I sort of have the same problem.
I own a 1995 Honda Accord EX 4dr Automatic 2.2 4cyl Vtec (Federal Emissions).
I recently replaced the intermediate pipe Bosal Part # 284-021 (H5000-51056).
Now my car vibrates a lot when I am stopped and in gear.
It seem to be originating from the CAT.
I noticed that my RPM is just barely over 500 rpms.
I just checked with my friend's
honda accord 95 and his idle speeds are the same as mine.
It doesn't rattle if I get the RPMs up.
I'm not sure if it was b/c of the exhaust.

RE: Why does my accord idle sooo low?
So I got a reading on my computer and the sensor located inside of the distributor is the one giving a bad signal. So I replaced the entire distributor with a reman and was still having the same issues. Later after troubleshooting found that the incorrect OHMS were coming from the comuter to the distributor and repleced that wire as well. The idling and hard starting are certainly soooo much better but it still idles low and makes the whole car shake, especially with the AC running.
DKTKD - I also replaced my intermediate pipe Bosal at my last inspection.....Hmmmm??? Great, another angle to research.

RE: Why does my accord idle sooo low?
Think this is a common Honda problem. I also own a Civic ('94) that does the same thing. No vibration, just loud rattle from exhaust. A/C on, RPM's rediculously low. Hope I don't see this with my Accord too.
