Default Bumper scratches on new car?

I just bought a "new" 2011 accord with a bit more than 100 km on it from a dealership, and three people looked over the vehicle (with an untrained eye) and I swear that none of us saw any damage. Now we brought it home today (which was no more than 5 km away) and did not hit anything along the way, and I have this mess on my bumper. (I apologize for not getting out of the way for the pictures).

The reason I say "new" was because I felt that it might have been a fishy sale since my question was why there were still some 2011 accords (brand new) that were still hanging around.

Can anybody speculate on what the heck caused on these nasty scratches on the bumper or may they just have been there before but touched up in a way that we didn't notice?

Take it back. Most states have a 3-day return opportunity.

good luck

That looks like nothing I seen that normally would cause scratches on the rear bumper. Yep, like TexasHonda said, take it back to the dealer. Where I live, there is no "cool down" period after a car sale. A lot of dealers will then just try to get it repainted.

What I normally see on many car's rear bumpers are the scratch marks from a bracket on the garage door that use electronic garage door openers, which can scrap the bumper due to not pulling in the car enough into the garage. The garage door safety beam sensors are lower than the bumper, so the garage door opener still closes the garage door and can scrap the bumper. But, that scratch is not the same pattern at all.
