help with rust protection
So basically I was looking at the body on my car and noticed a little rust starting to appear on the bottom and the side of the passenger door. The rest of the body is flawless, and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to stop the rust from spreading, or possibly remove it all together? Its only a very small amount on the edge of the door, but that will quickly spread. Winter is coming up and I live in wisconsin, so that means lots of salt and lots of slush. Also, this is the first year it won't be garage parked. I really want the body to last as long as possible.
Any reccomended anti-rust treatments out there? ... or any at all?
ill try to post some pics when its daylight and I get the chance.

Sand it down and put primer on it. Or get the primer that you sand down. Whenever I find rock chips or scratches from the previous owner that go to the metal I have a little glass jar of clear coat and put a few coats of that on.
Here are some pictures.
I know its nothing major, but I really want to stop it from spreading, and find the best way to stop it.
Do you think sanding it down would be best? then what about the paint?
and since the rust is already there clear coat isnt going to do anything.
the paint is also starting to peel, which sucks, and if you look in the first picture on the right side there are bumps in the paint further up. The corner itself I could sand off without it looking that bad, but once i start to get higher up then it will look ****ty.

Thanks in advance.

so do you think sanding it off, finding a matching color and putting some clear coat over it would be best, or would it be too difficult to match the color?
the car is 10 years old, so the paint is most likely faded, so any new paint might not match.
what do you think?

I own a 92 Accord Lx and right now i'm in the process of fixing the rust before the winter comes. I have the same rust problem as you right now with the rust at the bottom of the doors. If you want the rust gone you are going to have to do the whole sand down the bare metal and primer thing. When I put the touch up paint on my accord up close you could tell it wasn't factory paint but from a distance the new paint actually match's up quite well with the old one.
cool. where is the best place to get automotive paint?
Online?
theres a little sticker on the side of the drivers door that says "paint:" then has a code after it, im guessing this is the paint color? Can I use that?
