Zach that is definitely an igniter problem, the bulb is being lit just by the running voltage and not the igniter. The igniter only comes on for a second or less, I'm really not sure, with a higher voltage to get the plasma going in the bulb, then the running voltage just maintains the plasma, but it takes more energy to get it started.

Default cheap and quality

i want to upgrade my 97 honda accord lights to hid. i found a ddm hid kit for like $100 which seems reasonably priced and reasonable quality. Getting projector housings seems more expensive at like $150. does anyone have any brands they recommend or places to get cheap projector lights. i dont want to do a retrofit.

thanks

if you REALLY want to get projectors, get TYC. But i still say get blackhoused.

Ive got the 5000k DDM tuning HID's in TYC projectors. Its not bad. When I first had them in I could see better with the HID's then the halogen brights....but then I kept getting flashed! haha I aimed them down and would still take them any day over halogens. Just a note that you will have to file the opening a bit to fit the HID in the socket. Not a big deal though.

they look great.
what are projector lenses and why get those in addition?
Are those the lenses that look like a magnifying lens? I have those on the GTO and the hid's do look awesome.

I am happy how the accord came out though. as a comparision with a nissan maxima, the 8000k ddm set i have are similar in color, but brighter. I'm not getting flashed though so I am happy I went with the 35 watts.

first off what is blackhoused?

and correct me if im wrong but i want to get projector housings because the reflector housings would be less legal and would have a horrible cut off line while throwing light all over the place.

also can you post some pictures ot your adjusted lights installed so i can see how they look on the road

Blackhoused headlights are OEM headlights that are well blackedout instead of clear. Here's a pic http://www.tasauto.com/Product/images/849802.jpg. OEM housings are illegal when used with HIDs but most no one cars anymore with the PnP kits, myself included.

Projectors are these http://www.tasauto.com/Product/images/781953.jpg but are rather pricey. Best way to get a clean HID housing for the accord is to do a retrofit. In case you're wondering a retrofit is taking a projector from a car that has one (BMW, Infiniti, etc) and inputting it into an OEM housing.

That's what i thought the projectors are. Well, i am very pleased with the hid's in the accord. The light is spread evenly down the road so i am satisfied.

What about our daytime running lamps? They would be cool to be hid lamps. Then we can have hid lighting during the day.

Do they have those available and if so does anyone have them?
