Highest Kalven without kit?
Can you get a high kelvin bulb, or is over like 5000k require you to install a new conversion kit. I searched around and couldent find any topics already started on how high a bulb can go kelvin without any install or kit.

4300k is almost pure white or close...the higher it gets the more purple/blue it becomes and actually emits less white light. Anything under 4300k would be good as a fog light.

If your talking about halogen bulbs than be prepared to lose your visability! Ive read the best after market ones htat are actually bright would be the silverstar ultras. Most of the other bulbs will look cool but they will decrease your light output. I conpared the stock 9006 bulb on one side and on the other i used a 9005 bulb (mod) and the stock ones were WAY brighter. hoped this helped

Kelvin on a light bulb is the COLOR temperature. It has nothing to do with HEAT temperature, therefore if you can find it, you can use whatever ####(#)deg K bulb that you want. As noted above, the closer to white that you get, the more efficient the bulb will be at producing light from the same input power (55 Watts for stock 9006). Feel free to search Wikipedia for more info on this topic ..... or HAF also since this has been covered extensively numerous times.

9005 is a 65 Watt highbeam. 9006 is a 55 Watt lowbeam. The number represents the socket; nothing else. If you really did stuff 9005's into your lowbeam fixtures, you either irreversibly modified the plug or cut it off. I highly reccommend that this is not done. If you want more wattage, get a relay kit and high wattage bulbs. Before my projectors, I had 80 Watt 9006 lowbeams and 100W 9005 highbeams. They were definately brighter than OEM, silverstars, PIAA's (OEM Wattage) or any other normal power bulbs.

Note the high power relay kit. Harnesses were fine because ceramic doesn't melt [sm=smiley20.gif]
The 9005 is brighter because it's normally 10 Watts more powerful. For less effort, just go for the full high wattage system that I had. It's not that expensive either..... maybe 50 bucks for the kit then new bulbs.
EDIT: Technically, the high power bulbs are legal for offroad and show use only ..... they are still lower profile than blue/purple HID's
