Default hood repaint information

Hello All

I have a 99 honda accord EX sedan 4 cylinder. I am having my hood repainted from a honda dealer. They are charging me 400$ bucks for the paint and an extra $200 for color match with the rest of the body.

Ive heard that this color match could be done at home too by waxing the hood. Is this true ? Also is there anything else I need to know about repainting before I spend so much money on this thing ?

Any help would be appreciated

Seth

So $600 for just the hood?,I would look elswhere,or even save and extra few hundred and get the whole car repainted.

so the paint job is costing too much ? Guess its from a dealership who apply original paint which makes it pricey. Do you have other recommendations ?

Well granted you are going to get a quality factory paint job,the $600 is pricey, locations vary, but here in miami,i can get a hood painted for around 200-250.Top quality paint, usauly 3-5 coats depending on the type of job.

Edit:I suggest you get a few more quotes from local trusted shops, they should be all free no hassle to get.

You can not color match in your garage at home. To color match is an art. A very annoying art. It's not easy... seems like no one does it right any more. And from my experience, the dealers NEVER get it right. I've done bodywork on cars since I was 10 with my dad (he's a bodyman meaning he does body work for a living)... your best bet is to call around and make sure you get decent deal.... and for the sake of GOD please don't call "MAACO"...
